MUMSU Ski Trip 2007 @ Falls Creek

Ladies and gentleman…Now we present to you our most popular event of the year, the MUMSU Ski Trip (*background clapping). To all of you who have been excitingly waiting for our ski trip sales, we are pleased to announce to you that our ski trip ticket sales will commence next week which is week 11 of uni, from 14th till 18th of May. Here are the details on the ski trip this year:
Date: 27 - 29 July, 2007 (Friday till Sunday, we’ll be departing from Monash early Friday morning, so remember to avoid allocating classes on Friday)
Duration: 3 days 2 night
Venue: Halleys Lodge, Falls Creek
Number of seats available: 84 (grab them fast, they’ll run out pretty quick)
Cost: $450 for members, $480 for non-members
What is Included?
- 2 nights accomodation at Halley’s Lodge
- 2 3-course dinners (Friday & Saturday)
- 2 breakfasts (Saturday & Sunday)
- Return Transportation from Monash University Clayton to Falls Creek
- 2 full day pass for ski lifts and lessons (Saturday & Sunday)
Ski/Snowboard Equipments Hire for 2 days:
- Skis, boots & stocks/ Snowboard & boots - $45 nett per person
- Parka & pants - $25 nett per person
- Parka only - $16 nett per person
- Pants only - $18 nett per person
Actual Prices If You Go On Your Own (last year’s quote):
- Return Transportation with Pyles Coaches - $130 per person
- Food for 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts + Accomodation for 2 nights - $230 per person
- Ski Lift Pass + Lessons (Tertiary discounted) - $185 per person
- Entrance Fees - $10 per person
- A total of whopping $555 AND that’s exclusive of equipment
The price quoted above was from last year. It would definitely be higher this year as fuel’s price hike has forced coaches companies to increase their rate and also the lodge has increased their accomodation rate. Nevertheless, it is still much cheaper if we go in a huge group, and not forgetting that we’re actually subsidizing the amount that you’re paying. Most important of all, it’s absolutely fun in the snow
This is a chance not to be missed for all of you, especially for those who haven’t experience the thrill and excitement of skiing or snowboarding.
Our booth for the ticket sales will be at the same location, in front of STA Travel in the campus centre. We’ll be at our booth between 12pm till 2pm. Please bring the exact amount for the ski trip when you sign up as we would need to make payments to the lodge really soon. Besides that, please be informed that you do not have to bring the payment for the equipments hire yet, as there might be different needs for equipments and gears. If any of you have any sort of dietary requirements (vegetarian, lactose intolerant etc), please let us know at our booth so that we could arrange things out with the lodge.
p/s: You guys gotta be fast, as it has been a trend that the ski trip tickets get sold out pretty fast

Just to clarify things out.
Yes, the ski trip will be from the Friday till Sunday of the 2nd week of the 2nd semester. We’ll be leaving early Friday so that we would be able to get to Falls Creek in the afternoon.
The main reason we’re going on the uni week instead of the semester break is that it is the BEST time to ski during that time. Too early or too late into the witner, the snow would not be that thick.
So, to you guys who are interested, please remember to avoid scheduling any tutorials or labs on Friday the next semester (anyway, who wants tute or lab on Fri? it’s the weekends).
