MUMSU Ball 2007

Here comes the biggest and the most anticipated event for the year, our Annual Dinner & Dance 2007. This year’s MUMSU Ball will be a special one, as we’ll be organizing it at a special venue and there’ll be a special theme to the ball.

The venue for this year’s MUMSU Annual Dinner & Dance will be at Melbourne Aquarium, which houses many different types of exotic underwater creatures. Melbourne Aquarium is a spectacular place where you get to journey through the underwater world and observe its amazing view. Furthermore, just imagine dining in a grand ballroom which is surrounded by live corals, tropical fishes, sea stars and sea snakes.

The theme for this year’s ball would be known as “Carribean at Dusk: A Night on The Black Pearl”. Thanks to the brilliant idea of our board of committee, the theme for this year would be simply a ‘Pirates’ theme.

MUMSU Newsletter - Volume II

It’s about half way through the second semester now. Here comes our second volume of our newsletter for the year, MUMSU INIT 2007 Vol. II. The newsletter is broken down into two parts, so make sure that you grab both of them. There are two different qualities for the newsletter and they are downloadable via the links below:

50th Merdeka Day Celebration

Hey guys… As most of you would know, this year marks the 50th anniversary year since Malaysia achieve its independence from the British colony. To commemorate this special event, there’ll be some activities organized for you all.

1. MUMSU Merdeka Celebration
2. Merdeka Countdown Party at Velour

Firstly, MUMSU will be organizing a ‘Merdeka Day Celebration’ this week, and there’ll be free entertainment in the form of a skit performed by our board of committee, and also we’ll be selling delicious mouth-watering Nasi Lemak from Nasi Lemak House at a subsidized price.

The full details of MUMSU Merdeka Event are as below:

Date: 31st August 2007 (this Friday)
Time: 11.30am - 1.00pm
Venue: Center Cellar Room
Cost: $5 for our subsidized Nasi Lemak from Nasi Lemak House (grab it fast before it runs out)

There will be limited quantities of Nasi Lemak and the tickets for them will be sold at our booth in front of STA Travel in the campus centre. We’ll be at our usual booth location from Monday onwards, between 12pm till 2pm. So, if any of you would like to grab a pack of Nasi Lemak, come to our booth tomorrow and grab your ticket, before they are sold out!

We’ll be distributing the Nasi Lemak on Friday itself, during the Merdeka Event at Center Cellar Room. So, remember to bring your tickets on that day to redeem your Nasi Lemak.

Secondly, there’ll be a ‘Merdeka Countdown’ party this Thursday at Velour. This event is an event organized by MASCA and Velour, and we’re helping to promote it. The interested part of the event is definitely the free flow of tequila shots after the countdown. Read on for those who are interested.

Date: 30th August 2007 (this Thursday)
Time: 10.30pm till late
Venue: Velour Bar - 121 Flinders Lane (in between Russell and Exhibition Street)
Ticket Price: AU$ 17 (General Admission is AU$20)

What’s there for those of you who are going for the countdown event??

The tickets for the Merdeka Countdown event at Velour will be sold again at our booth in the campus centre, from Monday onwards, between 12pm till 2pm. So, those interested, come to us and grab a ticket for the event.

Fitness First Special Night

This is a short message that we received from Fitness First, one of our sponsors for our upcoming annual ball. Fitness First will be having a special function next Tuesday night, and the invitation is open to all of you. Read on if any of you are interested.

This is an invitation to all students whom receive this e mail, for free entry and special discounted memberships specials on the night. There will be food, drinks, music at Fitness First club. It’s a special night organised. So come one come all.

MUMSU Basketball Meet II

The ski trip has been over for a few weeks now. So, what’s next with MUMSU?

We’ll be organizing another basketball meet this time, due to the good turnout of participants from the previous basketball meet last semester. The details of the basketball meet are as below:

Date: 25th August 2007 (next Saturday)
Time: 12.30pm - 2.30pm
Venue: Monash Sports Centre
Cost: $4 for members, $6 for non-members (court booking & refreshment)

Any of you who are free next Saturday and would like to sweat out a bit, we invite you to come and participate in our friendly basketball meet. The event is not just for the guys, girls could come along and play as well. Tall, short, big, small… all of you are invited to join the event.

Just like before, refreshment will be served for those who participate in the game. To sign up for the basketball meet, please come to our booth located in front of STA Travel in the campus centre, from next Monday onwards, between 12pm - 2pm.

We hope that those are interested would sign up early as we will not be accepting any last minute entries on the day itself. This is to ensure that we would be able to have a good coordination on the event and prevent overcrowding on the court. We also hope that you all could persuade your friends to come along and join in the fun.
